Several of the original Fatalists, and later 'hardcore' recruits are tattooed with a black circle on the right upper arm (notably, this has only occurred since the death of the founding member of Fatalism, Clem Fatale, earlier this year). This is known as a Fatalist pupil, being both an acknowledgment of one's commitment to the movement, and a reference to the human eye, whom, directly quoting Richey Edwards (guitarist in Welsh angst-rock band Manic Street Preachers, officially missing since 1995), state 'The only perfect circle on the human body is the eye. When a baby is born it's so perfect. But when it opens it's eyes it's just blinded by the corruption and everything else is a downward spiral.'
Fatalists claim that the mark acts as a mnemonic as to their raison d'etré, a symbol of a lost, irretrievable purity, and a stamp of allegiance.
The tattoo's ubiquity over the last 2 years has come under much public attack, particularly by the Metropolitan Police due to it's patent reference to Anarchism.
